Hello, stranger

I’m sorry I’ve been away for a few days…things have been so busy around here! What have you been doing? Have you melted, yet?

Lately I’ve been thinking a bunch about things to do with my time {what time?}, whatever scattered talents {can I call them that?} seem to be lying around, and how my aspirations {not related to offspring} can mesh with the aforementioned things. I found a couple of inspiring links on Making it Lovely.

I’ve often wondered where my graphic design degree will fit into a “real life”, how to not feel so intimidated by all of the fellow creative souls out there, and whether I should just give up altogether because it seems overwhelming. Answers to all of that here.

Second, a link to the story of how A Cup of Jo moved from a hobby to a livelihood for Joanna Goddard. And also a link to an article featured on The Business of Fashion about Leandra Medine who turned her blog, The Man Repeller, into a career. How do you do that? How does it go from a sport to something that keeps the lights on? I’ve heard the quote that if you find something to do that you love, you’ll never work another day in your life. I have previously regarded that advice as hogwash. We’ll see what happens in the future, though.
